Hack the Metaverse
Hack the Future

The 1st International Innovation and Technology Competition

ABOUT HACKAVERSE CHALLENGE 2022

The Hackaverse Challenge is an annual global hackathon that aims at cultivating innovation and preserving the cultural heritages of our time through accelerating the development and growth of the metaverse community, bringing together the world's brightest minds from all walks of life to tackle problems with creative ideas and solutions.

Objectives:

  • To cultivate innovation by tackling problems with creative ideas, 3D and game development technologies

  • To encourage participants to think out of the box and overcome challenges

  • To provide an opportunity to meet and interact with 3D and game development talents and professionals

TOPIC: REVITALIZING THE WORLD’S GREATEST WONDERS

Choosing from the list of the world’s wonders below, you are challenged to:

  1. Recreate a 3D model of your chosen architecture, balancing its originality with a futuristic touch to fit in the environment of the metaverse.

  2. Design a game that revolves around the history behind your chosen architecture, to make it fun and stay relevant to the metaverse population. (Students are required to only come up with a proposal; Open track participants are required to build the game using Unity)

Example:

  • A treasure maze with sci-fi elements inside of the Great Pyramid of Giza

  • Bring the Statue of Zeus at Olympia to life, allowing players to interact with Zeus

Judges will evaluate the submissions based on 5 criteria: originality & Innovation, Impact (User Experience), Commercial Viability, Technical Complexity, and Overall Presentation.

COMPETITION DETAILS

In the Hackaverse Challenge 2022/23, participants are asked to revitalise one of the Wonders of the World through 3D modelling and gamification. By recreating the iconic sights in the metaverse, participants will unleash their creativity and add in fun sparkles to their chosen architecture.

The original Seven Wonders of the World - Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria - are all lost but one. We can only imagine the glorious days of the once thriving and dominating civilizations through paintings and literature.

As time evolves, we have replaced the list with new Wonders - the Colosseum in Italy, Great Wall of China, Hagia Sophia in Turkey, Stonehenge in Wales, Taj Mahal in India, and so on and so forth. Would they cease to exist one day, just as the original wonders in the ancient world?
